Dangerous! We bought this Urn in December ’11 and it was perfect for our needs. However, as the months went on we realized that the metal part and the black plastic base were separating from each other. As this happened, we would be very cautious with it and were keeping a close eye on it. But now it has totally separated from each other and is making interesting sounds as well as hot water just leaking out from the separation. Great value! Never used an appliance like this before. Was looking for something to make tea in 1 gallon batches quickly. This unit heats up hot and fast- probably quicker than the 1 min per cup stated. Its super light, which made me worry when I picked it up, but when I got it out of the box I saw it was actually pretty sturdy. Only used it once so far, but no issues with leaks or anything else.Only down sides are that the outside of the unit gets very hot, which isn’t a big deal because it’s not…
great coffee great buy. I use this because I think percolator coffee tastes way better than drip style. I got this size because I drink a lot of coffee and got tired of having to make a new pot every day. Works great. my cups don’t fit under the spigot but I just slide it over to the edge and fill them up. It does get hot, but what do you expect from brewing coffee.
