  1. Nice generator, a little whiny though… The generator, though fairly quiet, is not as quiet as I expected at higher loads! There seems to be a generator dynamo whine in addition to the sound of the gas engine that gets louder as you draw more power. You can hear it in the YouTube review videos as well if you listen to the generator as the load increases. But that’s not to say it isn’t a relatively quiet generator, especially when running at a lower load. At full load the whine adds some dB to the overall loudness, but it’s certainly…

  2. Good for the price! I broke in the generator using James Lummel’s advice in a review below (Thanks James). I ran the Royal Purple 11487 High Performance Engine Break-in Oil for the first part of the break-in however I don’t think I executed the proper load transitions as James suggested. In any case, I used the Royal Purple and cycled power with cooling in between. It started easy and all went well (other than oil on the patio which didn’t go over well).   3. Best 1600 watt genset I’ve used so far. Bought one of these (Powermate 2000i) at Walmart in December 2017 for $488.00 plus tax plus warranty. Out the door for a tad over $550.00. Have owed many comparable models and this one is the best. Never bought Honda or Yamaha because of price.
