Simple and Inexpensive The Proctor Silex 12 Cup coffee maker is a no frills machine. This is a great little get-it-done coffee maker. AND it is CHEAP. You should not buy this if you want ANY bells and whistles. There is no programmable time, no setting the temperature, no pause and serve. But, if you are looking for a machine to keep at the beach house or mountain cabin, this is a great candidate.
Handle can fall apart. The coffee maker is simple and works well. However, after a month or two of use the handle became loose. I tried to tighten the screw at the bottom of the handle, but it wouldn’t tighten. So I took it apart. It seems that Proctor Silex design is subject to poor manufacturing. The screw is supposed to go into a small plastic cube like piece that has a dimple with a small hole for the screw (a wood screw). I do like it. It doesn’t seem to be as messy … Even though I didn’t pay much for this coffee pot, I do like it. It doesn’t seem to be as messy as other coffee pots I have tried, which is a big plus for me. I like the fact that the button to turn it off and on, allows me to leave it on until I have finished drinking coffee for the morning, allowing my beverage to stay hot for refilling my cup.
