Newer version is junk compared to product made 5 years ago. UPDATE: We accidentally burnt the cord on our old unit with the toaster oven, so bought the same model again expecting the same years of service. BIG MISTAKE! Bought the unit in April, it stopped brewing in June. Ran a clean cycle, started working again. Fine. Then it started leaking water all over the counter during July–Internet research yielded that there is an issue with a piece in the back that can cause that and the fix is to rotate the piece 180 degrees. Not as good as they used to be DON’T GET IT. I have had 2 of these in the past 7 months and both have developed the same problem. It brews some (usually small) portion of the water and thinks it is done brewing. The maker gets VERY hot at this point and, although there is water visible in the reservoir it stops, beeps to signal finished brewing, and then it ‘may’ resume brewing at some point, or not. Even turning off and on, doesn’t solve this. My first pot did it intermittently, but it got to 3 times in one week and so…
Really cute coffee makers! And great coffee too! Love this coffee maker. I bought three to use in my inn for different flavors of coffee. They look so cute in red and I have gotten a lot of compliments on them. I love that I can program them at night and I wake up to fresh brewed coffee. The only con that it has, and it is a big one for me (but then again I haven’t found a newer model of a coffee maker that doesn’t seem to have this super annoying feature), is that it turns off 2 hours after it turns on.
