I like the older design better. I have the older Mr Coffee tea maker that still works just fine. I wanted a larger tea maker as well as a back up in case the older quite. I like the capacity but I do not like the filter basket being in the unit. The older one has the basket in the pitcher which allows you to move the pitcher away from the unit to let it finish draining. You cannot do this with this one as you will have a mess on your hands.
