The top lid is stainless steel also, not some flimsy metal, the pit is solid, the threads are smooth, not rough like on some aluminum moka pots. I’m used to having preheat my old pot before putting on the stove, but the instructions with this moka pot tells you to use cold water, which I did and there was no difference in time…
