1. Open the top lid by pressing the Water reservoir release button and fill the Water tank with cold water taking careful note of the number of cups using the Water level indicator as a guide
2. Press the Coffee filter release button to open the filter compartment. Add paper or permanent filter to the brew basket
3. Add ground coffee to the basket or to the Permanent filter
4. Close the compartment, ensure the filter compartment is closed and latched properly, otherwise the machine will not function correctly
5. Insert the Thermal carafe after prewarming it by rinsing it with hot water (prewarming the carafe will help keeping coffee hotter), then securely place it on the base recess (no hot plate) .
6. Press the Classic coffee button. The relevant button will illuminate.

Great thermal carafe coffee maker Our old Krups drip type died after 8 years, and I decided an upgrade was in order. After lots of review reading of the other models out there they all had over-flow issues, leaks while pouring, lid alignment issues and the like. Not a good cup of coffee but a GREAT cup of coffee. I had a few Krups coffee makers. Why I switched I don’t know, but I have sure missed a good cup of coffee. The glass carafe is the part of the magic.
