You Do Have A Choice as to Where To Purchase Just be aware you can also get this at the Hamilton Beach Website cheaper (at this time). I bought 1 (this one) and one (from Hamilton Beach) and there was virtually no difference. The reason for replacement was “gravity related”, (I dropped it). Another one went when I was washing it and it chipped at the bottom, (brittle). Here it is 16.99 + shipping, Hamilton site 10.99 + shipping. fragile Well, I love the coffeemaker for this carafe, but the carafe itself is pretty fragile. This may seem obvious because it’s GLASS, but it’s pretty thin. Have had to replace the carafe twice. Once it fell off the counter – understandable. The second time, I was cleaning it with a dishwashing brush and the plastic side of the brush tapped against the carafe and cracked it. Now I only use a sponge and treat it with kid’s gloves. So far so good, and as I said, I love the coffeemaker.
Good Broke the first one by tapping it on my corian countertop. It broke pretty easily. Otherwise, it’s not one of those horribly drippy carafes that causes a total mess when filling your coffeemaker with water. It’s quite good in that regard. Otherwise, it’s a coffee “giraffe,” as my hubsand says. It’s going to be fairly vulnerable by its very nature, and I’m a heavy handed klutz. So….
