Very Unlike Farberware as I remember them I am more than disappointed with this item as, in the past I have owned and loved my many Farberware coffeepots. I originally ordered a pot on January 1 and was looking forward to receiving it. Unfortunately, once plugged in, the cord smoked and the base of pot had a heavy burning plastic smell. Perking is worthy but heating element worthless. This perks fabulous coffee–but as multiple reviewers in this review stream have noted, its heating element is prone to failure. In my case, it conked out 6 months after purchase and thus, became a worthless piece of stainless steel. I figured that with 180 perks, it cost 21 cents per perk to go from great to junk status. Safety Hazard! My family has had Faberware percolators for many years, both the large and small models. I bought a small 4 cup model for my Dad less than two years ago. He uses it once a day in the morning. He is meticulous about caring for it (as well as everything else). Yesterday I noticed a dull area in the base plastic as well as a small hole in the material.
