The carafe lid is this coffeemaker’s achilles heel We were happy with this purchase for about two months. That is how long it took the lever on the lid to break. The long, flimsy piece of plastic is in position just above the handle to make it simple for pressing with your thumb when going to pour your cup. The other end is attached to a small rubber grommet that is lifted upon your thumb press.
